Canyon Factory

i did this painting/photo collage for the third week of jung's class. i put more time and added stuff into than what i originally turned in, particularly the machinery. anyway, i was part of cecil's class last year and i learned a lot and improved a lot too; thank you cecil! and now im sitting in in jung's class and it is going really great. both teachers are awesome, but its cool seeing two separate processes of painting.... all we need is andy park so we can have the GOW concept team teaching at otis!

Ruin Assignment from Past Class

So here I have 3rd assignment that I named "Ruin" assignment. This time I demonstrated how to bring in photo references and incorporate them into a scene. The reason I had them come up with "Ruin" image for this particular training is because ruin setting is very forgiving when it comes down to meeting the edges and they don't have to worry about perfecting the perspective lines and building details. One week assignment.

Interior Assignment from Past Class

Interior Assignment-based on one of their early Background concept they were working on.
This was also one week assignment and definitely I liked how each compositions were interesting obviously they were willing to take on some compositional challenges. Great Stuff. Cecil

Landscape Assignment from Last Class

So

This was the very first assignment that I gave to my students. Mainly working with mountain shapes and terrain layouts to create depth and achieve lasrge scale panoramic views. I wanted them to avoid putting in any architecture elements until they have solid compositions just with simple landscape elements. Later we choose one of the four thumbnails and develped them into more polished final piece.

Turnaround Assignment from Past Class

Here I'd like to contribute to this blog since I taught this class last semester. It would be cool to revisit some of works that my students did in that class. Some of them continues to take Jung's class so this will be good blog to have everyone participate.

The assignment was to help them to see their objects/ ideas in 3 dimensional views. Issac's design was my favorite then Will's beautiful pencil sketch and Eduardo's BW shapes were really cool too.
